In the front part, a continually controlled B axis is incorporated that cab be stiffened by means of annual gear (by one stage). The machine can be operated by means of four or five continually controlled axes. The control system is Sinumerik S 840 D as standard, but Heidenhein, Fanuc and Seica systems are in the offer too.

The leading global producer of machine tools with horizontal spindle axis -TOS Vamsdorf a.s presented at IMT its Optima machining centre which is a middle-sized type of a new machining-centre generation designed as a module system with summary denomination as TOStec. They are general purpose top machine tools for modem cutting technologies for parts of al forms and sizes. Large versatility of the machine use, given by choice of copious spectrum of machin design, enables a selection of an optimum design version for the required parameters of individual groups (modules) and their application on the machine according to individual technology needs of the user. The equipment is designed as a horizontal boring machine, with beds disposed in a T-form. Along them, in a transverse X co-ordinate (1600, 2000, 2500 mm), moves a rotary clamping table (axis B), or a clamping pallet, and in a longitudinal co-ordinate Z (1000. 1400, 1800 mm), the frame movement provides for tool in-feed to the working. Along the vertical co-ordinate Y (1300, 1600 mm) of the frame, a centrally guided headstock is moved.
The basic parts, forming the machine frame (stand and bed), are designed in a new conception, exploiting new advanced combitec technologies (closely ribbed shut hollow welded parts, filled with a special though, damping stuff the expansion of which produces a permanent preloading). This new design concept ensures a high dynamic and static stability of the machine frame and, at the same time, it markedly decreases weight of individual machine groups, provides for reaching high acceleration rates (3000 mm/ sZ) during machining ofworkpieces of weight up to several tonnes. The T-disposition of beds allows versions of the machine either with a module of a large-sized fixed clamping table (eg. 1250 x 2000 mm) with a larger weight (15000 kg) or with a rotary, even in the rotating B co-ordinate, fully continually controlled table for machining complicated piece surface from several sides; it also enables module application of automatic exchange of AVP technology clamping pallets (2 to 4 pallets); it makes productivity of labour more effective through cut-down of secondary working time when manipulating the workpieces.
The telescopic or non-telescopic working spindle (W = max. 650mm) is of nitrided steel, it is imbedded in a system of the precise antifriction angular-contact preloaded bearings. The machine can be delivered also with a non-telescopic high-speed electric spindle unit (of maximum 3,000 TPM). The modular offer of milling heads permits to machine workpieces from 5 sides simultaneously, or to machine them in 5 fully continually controlled axes in a general way or in the high-speed cutting technology. These aspects offer the customer a possibility to bring into effect the most difficult operations on the machine using the most advanced tools.
The machine is fully continually controlled in 4 (or 5) axes X, Y, A, B (or W, A, C) with Heiddenhain I TNC 530, or Sinumerik 840 D systems.
